AEG Programs Help Children and Teens with ADHD Succeed
Children with ADHD are often restless, hyperactive, and have difficulty completing tasks or focusing on a project. They are sometimes disruptive or impulsive. Many children with ADHD are extremely bright and capable. They often excel at certain skills, while having great difficulties with others. Their behavior can often cause painful social and academic consequences.
Aspen Education Group's schools and programs excel at finding an individualized plan for children and teens with ADHD. Behavior modification and therapy not only help with social behaviors, but can improve your child's academic performance. We have programs for children and teens ages 9 to 26.

Program Spotlights
Academy at Swift River - Cummington, Massachusetts

Located in Cummington, Massachusetts, the Academy has exceptional academic and therapeutic programs. The Academy at Swift River specializes in working with students struggling with ADHD and ADD. On average, our classrooms are small with ten students per class. Small classes cut down on distractions but more importantly give the opportunity for active engagement in the classroom. The Academy offers a three-week orientation called Crossroads. Crossroads was established to assist youngsters in reengaging in their academics. In a seminar-based format, students learn how to organize their work, take good notes, explore their learning styles and, most importantly, become advocates for their own education.
Our teachers are trained in the frameworks created by the nationally renown Dr. Mel Levine. Dr. Levine’s “Schools Attuned” program leverages students' strengths and endorses active student participation in their education. In addition, the ADD/ADHD student will benefit from the structure and the support offered in our emotional growth curriculum. Students with ADD/ADHD often have suffered from school related anxiety, school phobia, low self-esteem and other emotional factors which are an outgrowth of years of feeling different and oftentimes hopeless. Our trained counselors work with these issues to make a well-rounded, successful young person. View slide show.
Turn-About - Escalante, Utah

Turn-About Ranch is a working ranch located in Escalante Utah. This unique environment allows students to work with horses and care for other animals as a therapeutic approach to behavioral and emotional issues.
ADD/ADHD students can gain a great deal from a hands-on animal program. Turn-About Ranch has developed an ideal location, a working cattle ranch, for this to take place. Daily life includes many events where students are working with their hands, spending pent up energy that gets in the way when they need to work through the issues. The routine for ADD/ADHD students helps them feel more comfortable in a controlled environment, where rules, boundaries and schedules are similar every day. The therapeutic system that includes both group and individual counseling also has the ability to work with these students on an as-needed basis. While on a trail ride, fixing a fence, painting the garage, taking a hike, feeding the animals, the potential for dealing with issues in a non-threatening situation works very well. Many of the ADD/ADHD issues include working on impulsivity, improving study skills, increasing awareness of peers and social cues. At Turn-About Ranch, your child will experience the necessary components that will teach him/her how to work through these issues successfully and how to retain the necessary tools to continue to do so later in life. We have had great success with self-esteem issues, hurt and pain resulting from unhealthy relationships, rebellious, defiant and manipulative behaviors that lead to trouble for youth and their families.
